Team Two Beers Racing are super exited that we have been accepted to take part in Shitbox Rally Autumn 2023.
The team consists of Craig Towers and Tim Rodwell who have been mates for over 30 years and we will be driving our SHITBOX from Newcastle to Townsville, via a small place in the Queensland outback called Betoota, next May.
Craig’s Story:
Participating in a Shitbox Rally has been on my bucket list since I heard the rally founder,James, being interviewed on the radio about the first one 13 years ago. I finally got my “shit” together, submitted an application and here we are!
I lost my dad 40 years ago to stomach cancer when he was only 41. Having now passed that age myself, it saddens me to think of how much living he missed out on. We have also lost friends to this terrible disease. My dads cancer, after years of research, now has a pretty good survival rate. The same can’t be said for many other cancers. We plan to raise as much money as we can to get cures progressed so others don’t have to suffer.
Tim’s Story:
I think it is fair to say most people have been deeply touched by the effects of cancer through their life whether it be someone in your family, a close friend or even in my case, myself.
In late 2015 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer at age 45 after a non-routine blood test. With no family history PSA testing would normally only start at age 50. By the time they operated it had spread into an adjacent lymph node which then resulted in a further 6.5 weeks of daily radiotherapy.
I was very lucky. It was picked up early and I could afford the best specialists which has contributed greatly to the best possible outcome. Sadly two of my group of four who went through radiotherapy have now passed away.
With my great mate Craig we are taking precious time away from family and work to help raise money for much needed research and support in beating this insidious disease. .
The funds that we raise go to the Cancer Council (none of it is spent on our Shitbox) and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. The fundraising is the hard part, so any donation you can give is greatly appreciated.
Please help us achieve our fundraising goal of $15,000 and dig deep. We can get our Shitbox Rally car stickers once we get to $2500.
And remember, donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,500, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.
Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Shitbox Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
$59 million over the past 15 years has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:
These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
